These pieces are a compression of 100 images, each presented at 1% opacity. The images are the first 100 results that appeared when I did a Google search of the respective titles - Rebecca Laws photographer, and Rebecca Laws artist. Utilizing our current environment of image over-saturation, the abstract concept of identity transforms into a visual cacophony, and in this work, a literal compression of personhood.

These developed from my desire to reconcile what in my mind were two conflicting designations - that of an artist, and that of a photographer. By using a set parameter and taking a survey of images, I felt as though I was setting a definition for the terms, and by presenting every image at the same time, created a visual comparison for two abstract concepts.
